Kessa Mefford

Parlando was thrilled to host pianist Kessa Mefford for a special masterclass with Parlando students on Friday, October 24. The event was free and open to the public, and we welcomed our community for an inspiring afternoon of music and learning.

Kessa Mefford is an award-winning pianist celebrated for her performances of Maurice Ravel’s works. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in December 2022 with “Ravel: All of It,” presenting the complete art songs of Ravel. She is also the founder of Whimsical Birdsong, a concert series dedicated to performing the complete works of Ravel that include piano. In addition to her concert career, she leads Piano at Noon, a monthly lunchtime recital series in Peekskill, New York, and runs her own teaching studio.

Learn more about Kessa on her website.

Nnenna Ogwo

Parlando was thrilled to welcome Guest Artist Nnenna Ogwo in March of 2024. Nnenna gave a masterclass for students, a workshop for Parlando faculty, and a celebration concert with our students and faculty.

Nnenna Ogwo is a classically trained pianist and teaching artist dedicated to engaging listeners with her lush, richly layered performances. Her unwavering commitment to programming the music of under-represented composers is rooted in the belief that we can’t be what we can’t see or hear. This commitment is reflected in her various projects and collaborations with other musicians of color in presenting music of the African Diaspora and beyond.
