April 1 - There is a recital on April 16th at 1pm at Baker's Piano studio. If you would like to participate please talk to your teacher.

November 1 - Congrats to the Mountain Music Duo for their premier of Parlando's Andrew Halladay's piece on KVOD. The Mountain Music Duo is comprised of Parlando's oboe teacher, Tenly Williams and guitarist James Cline. The piece was specifically composed for the duo and was funded by Parlando's Faculty Grants which fund projects that benefit the Parlando community.

October 15 - There will be 3 all school recitals on Saturday October 30. Costumes are encouraged and there will be a costume contest at the end of each recital. If you would like to participate, please talk to your teacher ASAP.

September 15 - One of our teachers recently helped some BVSD students pick their first instrument at the Eldorado K-8 Instrument Intro Night!! If your school would like extra support with any of their musical programming, let us know! We have teachers who are interested in going out to the schools to help support the school music programs. August 15 - Two new classes have been added to the instrumental class roster. We are offering Intro to Violin and Intro to Guitar. Both classes are 45 minutes long on Thursday afternoons. They are perfect for students who have an interest in lessons and do better learning in social settings. This is also a more cost effective way to start a new instrument then taking private lessons. August 1 - We will be adding two new intro classes to our fall offerings. Both Intro to Guitar and Intro to Violin will be taking place Thursdays at Parlando. If your student has wanted to try either of those instruments but the cost of private lessons has been prohibitive this is a great option. June 1 - Are you still looking for a summer activity for your middle school or high school age student? Our Rock Band Camp is still accepting students for the beginning of June. Taught by nationally-touring artist and Parlando faculty member Holden Young, this camp is for students who play guitar, bass, keyboards, drumset or sing. Students will get a look at a number of different Rock, Indie, Funk, Punk and Progressive styles. Each day, students will have an opportunity to perform in a mixed instrument band setting as well as an instrument-specific seminar. This gives them the knowledge to communicate their ideas for performance as well as exercises to develop technique in rhythm, improvisation, song writing/arrangement and style. Students will gain the skills necessary for making a rock band. Grades 6-10; Tues-Fri June 8-11 (4 days); 12:00-4:00p ; $205

May 15 - Many of our summer classes are still accepting students. Are you interested in learning how to compose music? Check out our "Making Music: Composition/Jazz/Improv" class. Different levels are available for various ages and we are offering the class at three locations: the Dairy Center, Boulder Country Day, and Bixby School. May 1 - The Instrumental Studio will be participating in Parlando's first annual Bring a Friend to Parlando Week! During the week of May 10-14 all lessons will be open to friends. There will be musical activities and your friends will get to see what music lessons are really like. For more information please contact Liz Dinwiddie at liz@parlando.org.

April 15 - Parlando held its annual Merit Scholarship and Honors Recital Auditions this past weekend. The caliber of performances was extremely high and the competition was exceptional. The winners from Saturday's day long competition were invited to play in a free Honors Recital which will be held on April 24 at 3:30 pm at Baker's Piano Center (located at 3111 Walnut Street, Boulder CO 80301). The following day, Sunday, April 25 we will continue with free Faculty Recital at Bakers Piano Center at 1:00 pm. Both recitals are free and open to the public. Come join us for this Weekend Recital Festival!!

April 1 - The Instrumental Studio will be teaming up with the Boulder History Museum for their summer exhibit focusing on Music and Families. We will be doing a short video interviewing current Parlando families to be included in the summer long exhibit. March 15 - Parlando's Instrumental Studio is gearing up for summer and will offer many introductory classes.
