Parlando's Instrumental Studio encompasses all instrument lessons other than voice and piano. Parlando offers private instruction on all band and orchestra instruments. Weekly private lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minutes long. Group lessons are also available as “duet lessons” or “trio lessons” when students are matched by level and rate of progress. New students may enroll at any time by calling or emailing us. Tuition is prorated for new students who begin after the term has begun

Guitar ED (ages 18 and up)
Guitar-Ed is for any adult to learn guitar in a new fun and accessible way. Learn simple melodies, play popular songs and enjoy the guitar without making practice seem like work. Learn ways to play music with people of any ability level. Adults who feel comfortable with the basics may also enjoy this course as a refresher or confidence builder! Tuition covers your choice of 10 out of the 12 scheduled classes.

Kids N Keys N Winds (ages 4½ to 9)
This class is a variation on our popular Kids N Keys class with a focus on wind instruments. The soprano recorder is used as the main instrument in this class which is a supplement to the standard Kids N Keys curriculum. In addition to providing children with a strong musical foundation in a fun, enjoyable way, students in this class will have more opportunities to make music together playing recorders together and in combination with other instruments. Beginners and former KNK students can take this class and make music together.

This group performs symphonic arrangements as well as compositions originally for flute ensemble in a variety of musical styles from Renaissance to Ragtime. Emphasis is on blend, intonation, style and interpretation. Sharpen your ensemble skills while having a great time making music in a supportive environment. Flute Choir is open to adult students playing any instrument in the flute family.

Clarinet Choir is open to adult students playing any instrument in the clarinet family. This is a fun-filled, clarinet ensemble for students who have played clarinet for at least 2 years. An ideal program for intermediate and advanced students with a passion for making music together. Small groups of instrumentalists (3-8 players) are coached by Parlando faculty one hour per week, scheduled according to group availability. Pre-existing groups are welcome. Individual players are placed with others of similar ability to form new groups. This is a great way to improve ensemble skills, sight reading and performance skills. Special section for students wanting to focus on Baroque Trio Sonatas.

Jazz Combos focus on improvisation skills, traditional jazz repertoire and standard performance practice in a small group setting. Combos may include any combination of rhythm section (drums, piano, guitar, vibraphone, acoustic bass/bass guitar) and melodic instruments (winds, brass and strings). Pre-existing groups are welcome. Other days/times will be added as needed. A public performance may be scheduled at the end of each semester.

Rock Band Workshop (ages 11-19) Oct 3-4, Sa, Su 1:30-4:30p
Taught by nationally-touring artist, Holden Young, this workshop is for students who play guitar, bass, keyboards and drumset. The Holden Young Trio (HY3) members Adrian Engfer (bass) and Carl Sorensen (drums) will join Holden to offer students a look at a number of different Rock, Indie, Funk, Punk and Progressive styles. Each day, students will have an opportunity to perform in a mixed instrument band setting as well as an instrument-specific seminar. This gives them the knowledge to communicate their ideas for performance as well as exercises to develop technique in rhythm, improvisation, song writing/arrangement and style. Students will gain the skills necessary to form a rock band.
